Make a WISE choice for your business with the GB Job Bank

As a new initiative for providing return to work opportunities for injured workers in Victoria, and as part of myGBextras, we have implemented the myGB Job Bank for Victoria based clients and injured workers.

The job bank is an online database where employers can register their interest in employing an injured worker. Candidates are listed with their location, previous experience, current restrictions, training qualifications and their industry of interest. Any business who has registered for myGB job bank will be matched with appropriate candidates that may be suitable for the vacant role.

Here at GB, getting injured workers back to work is our core responsibility. In cases where a workplace injury prevents an injured worker from returning to their pre-injury role or workplace, we provide vocational rehabilitation, re-training and assistance with seeking new employment options in line with their capacity and restrictions

Wes Slimmon, General Manager of Mayfield Body Corporate Management, used the job bank to employ an injured worker for a role. ‘This has been a useful experience,’ Wes said. ‘Thank you very much for all your help, you have been very knowledgeable. Looking forward to working with you again in the future.’

MyGB job bank can work in conjunction with the WorkSafe Incentive Scheme for Employers (WISE) which offers a six month financial incentive of up to $26,000 to assist people getting back to work after a work-related injury or illness. Most employers are able to access the WISE incentive simply by offering ongoing work of 15 hours or more a week for six or more months.

By joining WISE, employers may be eligible to receive:

  • A financial boost of up to $26,000 to help you meet your costs
  • Tailored support to ensure you get the best person for your business
  • WorkSafe Injury Insurance premium protection for your new employee
  • The opportunity to support your community by employing someone who is keen to get back to work.

General Manager Victoria, Aidan Brophy, confirmed ‘We proudly provide an important service to the community, and myGB job bank is one of the many initiatives we have that aims to foster long term relationships with our customers by providing them with solutions that help meet their goals.’

The job bank closes what was a noticeable gap in return to work for unemployed workers. We now see injured workers progressing to sustainable and gainful employment on a regular basis through WISE and the job bank.
