Gallagher Bassett Establishes COVID-19 Taskforce – 18 March 2020

GB is taking the necessary steps to maintain business continuity and support clients in light of COVID-19. As the number of coronavirus (2019-nCoV or COVID-19) cases identified grows globally, the concern over its potential to affect employee welfare, disrupt global supply chains, and slow business operations have increased.

GB is actively monitoring the situation, preparing and following advice from the Australian Government and Australian Government Department of Health.

GB have engaged their Business Continuity team and are prepared for potential business operations interruptions. GB continue to ensure that their workforce is prepared to handle claims remotely, as needed, and have conducted testing of remote work technologies to ensure that the quality their clients have come to expect, continues.

To support these measures, GB additionally established a Global Coronavirus Task Force comprised of line of business experts across major injury exposures. This Task Force is responsible for overseeing the situation and ensuring that current and evolving protocols for handling these matters are effectively implemented and adhered to. The Task Force is also responsible for providing any necessary technical oversight on individual claims as the situation evolves.

GB has expanded a number of divisions to assist clients managing the challenges presented by the pandemic, including its Accident and Health and injury management services.

GB is currently assisting a number of carriers to manage the large volume of travel claims resulting from the virus, as well as working directly with employers to make sure they have appropriate injury management capabilities in place.
